The second-quarter incident saw a melee break out with four of Dunn’s teammates surrounding him, and others remonstrating with Mehri.
The goal was Dunn’s first and only for the game.
Mehri was quickly red carded by the umpire and taken off the ground by his team’s runner.
Dunn was taken to hospital immediately and is expected to undergo surgery later this week.
He retired in 2020 after 198 AFL games across the Demons and Magpies.
