Collingwood AFLW star Sarah Rowe has crossed codes to join Melbourne Victory.
Rowe has signed an injury-replacement deal with the Victory as cover for Melina Ayres, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
The versatile athlete, who has spent the past five AFLW seasons with the Magpies, is no stranger to football, having represented Ireland in the sport at youth and senior level.
Rowe has also played top-level Gaelic football in a decorated sporting career.
Victory coach Jeff Hopkins said: “We’re incredibly pleased to have an athlete like Sarah join the club and we’re excited to see what a natural talent like her can bring to our squad.
“Sarah has been trialling with us and we’ve been impressed with her level and what she has to offer so we’re looking to see her hit the ground running at Victory.”
Rowe was “thrilled” to again be playing football and to have the chance to play for the Victory under Hopkins.
“There is no doubt this group wants to achieve the ultimate success this season and I’m looking forward to contributing to their success any way I can,” the 27-year-old midfielder said.
Rowe is available for selection for the Victory’s clash on Friday against Perth Glory at AAMI Park.
