Disney+ and the AFLW have linked up to produce “Fearless: The Inside Story of the AFLW,” which takes a close-up look into the lives of the stars involved within the women’s competition.

Produced by JamTV, –  the first locally commissioned content in Australia for Disney –  the documentary is set to be released on the platform on August 24, 2022.

The documentary follows four AFLW teams over an entire season – Adelaide, Collingwood, Western Bulldogs and GWS Giants – in a bid to showcase the hard work, dedication, expectation, emotion and perseverance that goes into each and every year.

In this six-part series, viewers will discover what it takes to be an elite footballer and the pursuit for premiership glory.

Following all four clubs in season six, the audience will be fortunate enough to see the inner sanctum of each team, with cameras capturing the historic premiership victory of the Crows over Melbourne.

Kylie Watson-Wheeler (senior VP of Walt Disney in Australia and New Zealand) expressed her excitement for the AFLW to be on Disney+, showcasing women in sport.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing to Disney+ this world-first look at the AFLW and the powerhouse movement it has become for women in sport,” Watson-Wheeler said.

“The documentary celebrates the journey of trailblazing women – some of the first to play Australian Rules Football professionally.

“The documentary showcases extraordinary women who are paving the way for future generations and chasing football glory in their own unique ways.”

Kylie Rogers (Executive GM of Customer and Commercial) acknowledged what the AFLW players have done over the past six seasons and sees the league only growing every year.

“Over the last six seasons of the NAB AFLW competition, our remarkable W players have captured the hearts and minds of footy fans all over the world with the pure joy and determination in which they approach their footy,” Rogers said.
“The Disney+ team captures the essence of AFLW in Fearless – it’s a mixture of pure emotion, hard-hitting footy, and all the highs and lows that the world of football offers – and we get front-row seats to it all.”
