Jose Mourinho won another European cup final after his Roma side beat Feyenoord in the inaugural 2022 Europa Conference League title match, becoming the first manager to win all three European competitions.

While the new competition doesn’t have quite the same allure as the Champions League or Europa League, the Roma manager successfully added another trophy to his impressive collection.Β

In doing so, Mourinho completed a unique European cup hat-trick having already won the Champions League and Europa League.

After stints with some of the biggest clubs in the world, Mourinho has proven his ability to pick up silverware nearly everywhere he goes in his first season with AS Roma.Β

What is Jose Mourinho’s record in European cup finals?

Mourinho knows how to get the most out of his side in a final and has won every Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League title match that his teams have reached.Β

He won his first ever European cup final with Porto against Celtic in the 2003 UEFA Cup.Β

While Porto would lose the UEFA Super Cup a few months later to AC Milan, Mourinho would guide his side to the 2003-04 Champions League title after they beat Monaco 3-0 in the final.Β

After failing to reach a European final during his first stint with Chelsea, Mourinho wouldn’t make another until the 2009-10 season with Inter Milan, but he once again left the match as a winner as the Italians beat Bayern Munich 2-0.Β

The Portuguese manager was unable to take Real Madrid to a European final during his dramatic two-year stint and returned to Chelsea where he lost the 2013 UEFA Super Cup on penalties to Bayern.Β

Four years later, Mourinho would win the Europa League with Manchester United but failed to win the subsequent UEFA Super Cup final against Real Madrid.Β

Years later he would lead popular Italian side AS Roma to its first-ever European title with the 2022 Europa Conference League victory over Feyenoord.

  • Champions League finals record: 2 for 2 (Porto & Inter Milan)
  • Europa League/UEFA Cup finals record: 2 for 2 (Porto & Man United)
  • Conference League final record: 1 for 1 (AS Roma)
  • UEFA Super Cup record: 0 for 3 (Porto, Chelsea & Man United)

How has Jose Mourinho performed at Roma?Β

After being sacked by Tottenham prior to the 2021 Carabao Cup final, Mourinho would join Roma only a few months later.Β

He validated his work during his first season art the helm of the Serie A side by leading the club to its first-ever European cup final triumph. More importantly, they have shown signs of improvement this season.Β

After finishing seventh in the Italian Serie A last season which saw them enter the Europa Conference League playoffs, Roma finished sixth in Serie A, one point behind rivals Lazio. It’s a finish that will see both Rome-based sides head to the Europa League group stage in 2022/23.

Roma were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia by Inter, but still ended the season with silverware. Just reaching the Europa Conference League final, the third tier competition on the European club scene, left Mourinho in tears.

While Roma’s Conference League form was far from perfect β€” they lost 6-1 to Bodo/Glimt in the group stages β€” they found form at the right time. In the final they were tactically astute, opportunistic, and impenetrable in the Conference League final played in Tirana, Albania. The Giallorossi beat Feyenoord 1-0 on a goal by Nicolo Zaniolo.Β

Considering Mourinho’s trophy haul and cup final record, few were likely betting against his Roma outfit.Β
