Australian rugby union star Kurtley Beale has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in a pub toilet in Bondi.

The 28-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel on December 17. She reported the alleged assault to police in Tweed/Byron shortly afterwards, cops said.

Beale, 34, was stopped by police on Rainbow Street, Kingsford, just before 2.30pm this Friday afternoon and taken to Waverley Police Station, where he was questioned for several hours.

“He was charged with two counts of sexually touch another person without consent, incite another to sexually touch them without consent and sexual intercourse without consent,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Beale was denied bail and will spend the night in custody, before facing Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

The alleged victim told police that Beale followed her into the topilet before he allegedly forced her to perform a sex act, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The pair are said to have lknwon each other from years earlier but were in the pub in separate groups.

Police analysed the pub’s CCTV before making the arrest.

Earlier this month, Beale was selected as part of a 44-player squad for a Wallabies training camp on the Gold Coast.

He has 95 Wallabies caps and has played for Racing 92 in France in recent years.

In 2014, he was found to have breached the rugby code of conduct by sending an offensive image to former Wallabies business manager Di Patston.

Beale was previously fined $40,000 and suspended indefinitely from play for punching Melbourne Rebels teammates Gareth Delve and Cooper Vuna on the team bus after a Super Rugby game in South Africa.

Beale married his partner Maddi in August 2020 and the couple celebrated the birth of their first child, a boy named Kurtley, last year.
